Tunnel time and tasting snowflakes

12-31-10    Gymboree has been such a wonderful experience for both Ella and myself. She actually recognizes when we are in the parking lot and gets excited before we even go in. The first time back after winter break was a very exciting time. See, there are many types of tunnels at Gymboree. Ella has been deathly afraid of them. If you could picture you trying to put a cat in water that is what she looks like when you try to get her to go through a tunnel. I mean literally, Garfield, with arms and legs outstretched touching each side of the tunnel with no way to get her in. Her teacher said it could be because depth perception doesn't fully develop until 10 years old. So she could see no end to the tunnel thus making it a really scary experience. I even tried putting balls inside for her to chase or go get and she refused!
This time back was different. Maybe it was because she got braver or maybe it was because her Aunt Erin got her a tunnel with a tent for Christmas, but first thing she followed a ball right through a tunnel! I was so proud of her! Now she does it all the time. Without hesitation.
Now for something else my sister called me crazy for...as we walked to our car after class, it was snowing lightly. As we walked Ella reached out to grab the snowflakes and then stuck out her tongue! It was adorable. I didn't even show her that! Which Erin replied, she does have a mind of her own. Which was exactly my point. How did she even think to stick her tongue out to try to taste a snowflake? When we got to the car she leaned towards the car to try to eat the snow off the car too!

There she goes

Here she comes

Here are a few pictures of her in the tunnels now and of Gymboree this past Friday 1-21-11!
