Wow was this a big weekend for us! Friday after hours of IB training for school on my second day of summer, James and I went to carb day. We had hours of fun people watching and listening to ZZ Top rock out! The heat plus malibu and pineapple was enough to wipe me out.
While we were gone my mom and dad watched Ella. They said she was great and even took a good nap in the afternoon. She did something for the first time with them that I haven't seen. When she was in her crib she rolled over onto her tummy and was trying to get her pacifier by putting her mouth over the top. So she was in a face plant trying to get her paci! Too funny. When we got home about 8 Ella was tired and went right to sleep. This was a godsend because I went right to sleep as well. We both slept until morning!
Saturday we made the decision to test out miss Ella. We took a road trip to Chicago. We actually went to Buffalo Grove about an hour outside of Chicago for Stef and Danny's wedding reception. It was a four hour drive so we were pushing it. I was nervous we would be driving with screaming baby all the way there because she would be sick of being in her car seat. So in preparation, James drove and I sat in the back with Ella. The first hour of our drive she was happy and awake playing with me and her favorite zoo toy. Then I fed her a bottle and she took a two hour nap as I tried to keep her head from flopping to the front. It looks so uncomfortable like that! With about an hour left to drive she woke up again, ate some peaches and was happy as a clam. We talked and played with her toys and she was just fine. Not one little whine or whimper at all. Again, like I said, she spoils us.
When we got there about 2:30 we changed her diaper and she was ready to go. She was cracking us up. While we were watching the picture slide show she was sitting on the counter with James. She just started laughing at herself and talking out-loud. She was in the best mood! Of course she got lots of attention from all Stef's new family and Amanda who hadn't mer her yet. It is nice to be able to eat at functions like that because there are so many hands that want to hold her. She is still in the stage where she will go to other people. Every once in awhile she will give a good pouty face and not want to be out of our sight. For the most part, as long as she is not tired, she will go to anyone still.
We went outside to sit and eat and Ella played on the table and then down in the grass with her toys. The other children there wanted to play with her too and were so interested in her. She was kind of interested but more so in her toys. We stayed there and visited with Megan and Matt for about 4 hours.
Then she started acting a little sleepy so we decided it was time to make the trip back.
She fell right asleep in the car about 6:15 and slept all the way until 9:30. I gave her another bottle and she was out again until we stopped at Steak n Shake for some dinner before we went to Dustin's house to see the UFC fight. We got to Dustin's at 11:00 pm (against my wishes) and she was wide awake again. I am sure she woke up because she didn't want to miss the new place we were. Well by midnight the main event still had not started and she was ready to go. James was playing pool and jumped and made a loud noise and she pouted immediately and began to cry. That was our cue! She was asleep soon in the car and completely out by 1 am in her own bed finally! That was an exhausting day for us all. She was so good though. How lucky we are.
