Ella is 6 months old!

6 months have gone by! She continues to amaze me. She is so close to crawling it is insane. She is rolling over from her back to her tummy more and more. Soon she will be a pro. We took Ella to the doctor today for her 6 month check up. She officially has her first cold too. She has been sneezing and congested so badly she won't nurse in the mornings because she can't breathe and eat at the same time. This of course only makes her cry. I got smart the other day and sat her up more so she could breathe better and she ate just fine. She is down to only nursing in the mornings now. She is so independently and into everything that she doesn't want to sit still long enough when she is really awake to nurse. It took me a few weeks of tears to get over this. It was really hard to accept that she didn't need that anymore. My friends tell me that means we have built a strong bond and she feels safe enough to not need to nurse all the time. Also I have heard this is much better than trying to wean them away from you. Her doing it on her own makes it easier then me trying to get her to stop. It also made me feel better that the doctor said if I wanted to stop pumping then that would be fine as well since she had most definitely gotten all the nutrients and antibodies from me that she needed. The first 3 months is the most important, then 6 months is great. Anything after that is still wonderful but not as important as the first 6 months. She definitely is healthy though.

She weighed in at 17.6 lbs 26 inches long. That keeps her in the 75% for weight and 50% for height. She is sitting up like she was born to do so. Just 2 weeks ago she was sitting for a few seconds and then falling over. It was seriously 10 days later and boom she sits all the time for minutes and minutes on end. She had to get her last round of shots until her year check up today as well. She did not like those at all! She handled it pretty well, not too much crying and we were able to calm her down easily. She did get a low grade fever a few days later. Mixed with her cold it was not good. On Wednesday I cancelled practice because Tuesday night she was beside herself. I could tell she just didn't feel good. Wednesday morning she was really tired and not as happy with Mamaw which is not like her. By Wednesday afternoon she was all smiles though! It is too bad because we went to the zoo with my class that day and I wanted them to meet me there. It was best that she stayed home, it was a little chilly out as well. My little girl is growing up.
