Cast Away

Ella is cast free! We took her to the doctor this afternoon and again she was amazing. If the second one really is the opposite then we are in big trouble in the future. She sat with Daddy for the x-rays where we found that her bones healed beautifully. As we waited for the doctor to talk to us, Ella sat and waited, checked out the room. Then we were ready to cut off her cast. The doctor told us sometimes kids are scared because the saw is so loud. Others are just curious. Ella was the latter. She sat on my lap as she had when she got the cast on. She intently watched as the doctor carefully maneuvered the saw ever so gently to cut away the cast that kept her arm in the same position for 4 weeks. When he moved her hand so he could cut by her fingers, he blocked her view. Ella tilted her head around so she could still see what he was doing. After it was off, she straightened her arm and gave a little whimper. The skin in the crease of her elbow was a little cracked. Ouch :( but she was easily consoled. We washed her up, applied lotion and were on our way. Equipped with a purple sucker and an Austin Backyardigans sticker we were off. Hopefully never to grace the doorway with our shadows again. This cast is going in the memory box as the first and ONLY one.
