We got immediate smiles from Ella and Leon when they saw each other. Ella was almost jumping out of my arms to see him. She knows her friend! We started out checking out the gourds and little pumpkins in the wheelbarrow.
Then we decided to go see the animals. We thought you could go inside and pet them but it was more of a stand by the fence and watch kind of deal. The fat, dos dusty donkeys came over to play and tried to eat Ella and Leon's little fingers. The donkeys then followed us around the whole pasture as we tried to go see the goats and the sheep. They would lean against the fence so the kids could pet their fur. Leon was laughing as soon as he touched them. He was really into it. He was walking all around and pushing Ella's stroller to the fence for the donkey's to see too. Ella then followed Leon around and tried to talk with him.
Chad and Leon tried to run over to see the sheep but they were having nothing of it! They ran away as soon as they got close. Just as we were discussing the difference between a steer and a bull and trying to decide what that thing that looked like a mini brown cow with huge horns was, the tractor pulled up asking us if we were ready for our hay ride. So on we hopped on the tractor with some hay bales in the middle.
Ella decided on the hay ride that she needed to get up and walk around. I tried to explain to her that you are supposed to remain seated at all times while the tractor is in motion but she was having nothing of that! We went over to Leon, who shied away from her, probably because she usually tries to tackle him! Next we went to the front of the trailer and watched the humongous tires go round and round on the tractor. Next stop was the pumpkin patch. Off we jumped to find ourselves the perfect pumpkin. After much searching, Ella found a pumpkin just her size and then we all found one together that we could carve. Leon enjoyed walking through the vines and constantly got caught up in the vines. He actually fell down once and hit his mouth on a pumpkin and bit his tongue, poor guy! Ella enjoyed banging on the pumpkins and looking at the bugs on them.
The people at this place were so sweet. Good southern hospitality people. When we went up to pay for the pumpkins this old man said "um how about 4 dollars for those pumpkins." We were like seriously? For both of them? James tried to give him a 5 and he told him he was going to give him change and he should respect his elders. So sweet!
After we put our pumpkins in the car these two little dogs came out to play. Ella was in heaven. You should have heard her start to laugh with excitement! The two dogs together probably weighed 5 pounds. They would jump on her and she would giggle and pet them. Then the little white dog was nibbling on her fingers which only made her squeal even more!
Next we headed over to the Snack Shack for some grub. Ella and Leon were walking around the deck. Leon was walking away and Ella was trying to get him. She also decided she wanted to see what they were cooking inside the Snack Shack. She just leaned in the window like "hey, what's cooking?" Both of our little munchkins are great eaters so they enjoyed: green beans, pretzel with cheese, applesauce, milk, and some fruit. Once they were done eating they were all over the barn checking out things, seeing what other people had to eat, and Ella was just trying to keep up with Leon.
Over to the tractor we went next to check it out. Both Ella and Leon were amazed by the magnitude of this machine and loved trying to drive it!
Once we had refueled it was time for our next adventure. The corn maze! We opted for the 1.7 mile version of the maze vs. the 2.9 mile path. For a little while we thought we were lost, but soon got back on track and found our way out rather quickly. Ella fell asleep for our adventure and Leon just barely held on.
Of course if we hadn't made it out we were reassured by someone working there that if our cars were still there in the morning they would send someone in after us! Thanks!
As soon as we exited the maze Ella and Leon both woke up recharged and ready to go! I was really surprised that this 10 minute nap would do, but she sat right up like alright what next?! So we trotted over to the ponies. Chad and James decided that they were both too little to take a pony ride, but I knew we definitely needed a picture with them. Ella was ready to ride those things the minute she set eyes on them. The man was very kind and let us do a photo op with the ponies free of charge. I was shocked at how well they both did on top of the pony. I thought for sure that Ella would cling to me or James and not want anything to do with it but she got on that saddle like she was born to ride! She grabbed the reins and bounced them up and down. She smiled and held on so well! Leon too! Maybe next year we can take a ride.
Then it was time for some pumpkin fun! Over to the multitude of pumpkins we went for Ella and Leon to explore. They loved all the pumpkins and they looked so cute doing so. Here we are all of us for our classic pumpkin photo shoot :)
Then we had to take a picture of the cuties by the hay barrels. When we got over there I could hear both boys grumble about how many pictures we were taking and yada, yada, yada! Heather quickly piped in that they would be happy with all the pictures we took in 10 years when all of this is just a faint memory. I was thinking a quick picture of the two of them in front of the hay barrel but James hoisted Ella up on top and there she sat still and proud. Chad was a little nervous but she was just fine with Daddy and hair away just in case. Next the two of them were both up on top. The cutest thing, they both put their arms around each other just long enough for me to snap a picture!
There was time for one last adventure..the slide! This thing was huge, atleast a three stories high made out of some kind of plastic industrial or farm use tubing. At first Chad said no way, but the daredevil in James said he was taking Ella down so the four of them headed up the steps to the top! Down, down, down they came with smiles on their faces. A perfect ending to a perfect day!
